Are We There Yet? Day 5 of My Big Hairy Audacious Month
It’s almost a cliche’: as a family starts a 5-hour car trip to launch their vacation and 15 minutes into their trip, a voice pipes up from the back, “Are we there yet?”. Once we start a journey, whether it’s to a cabin at the lake, or a journey to get a healthier, stronger body, we want to get there right away! Like the joke goes, “Lord, give me patience, right now!”
I want to be healthier, have an ordered hospitable home and all my cross stitch projects finished and framed, now. Right now!
Instead, this is a time of transition, for me and for the country. Transitions can be scary, like the Hebrews journey through the wilderness to get to the Promised Land, it’s not an instant transformation. We don’t yet have the technology to beam ourselves from one place to another. And it’s during our traveling time that we get ready for our destination.
I’m not there yet. I’m just barely started. Thank you for traveling with me!
